The Role of BI in Innovation

Interview Tim Jennings (Butler Group)
BI has the potential to be a disruptive technology within the organization and an enabler of innovation. We will look at the concept of “inside innovation”, using BI to improve operational efficiency and process performance, and enhance the competitive position. We will also discuss innovation outside the organization, and the use of BI in a collaborative role to enable interactions with business partners and customers, and the rapid evolution of business models. The presentation will examine the technology and organizational change that is required to take advantage of this model, and show some examples of companies that have benefited.

Virtual Reality 3D Cave
Ilja Wij schrijven vaker artikelen over innovatieve projecten die plaatsvinden op opleidingsinstituten. Dit keer was er zoveel informatie over het project dat wij er een special van hebben gemaakt.
De Fontys Hogeschool heeft in september 2008 een Virtual Reality 3D Cave aangeschaft om daarmee interessante
onderwijsprojecten aan studenten te kunnen aanbieden. Bedrijven hebben ook de mogelijkheid om de 3D cave te huren.

Virtual Reality Cave op de Fontys Hogeschool
Ilja in de 3d Cave In September 2008 is op de Fontys Hogeschool de Virtual Reality Cave geïnstalleerd. Het bedrijf ProSystems heeft de hardware geleverd en de studenten zullen werken aan het bouwen van de software.

Het framework voor de Cave
Aran Vink Aran Vink, student hogere informatica, houdt zich bezig met diverse projecten met betrekking tot de Cave. Eén daarvan is het aanpassen van het XNA Framework voor de Cave. Dit is een community georiënteerde Virtual Reality applicatie ontwikkel framework.

Ben Ben Bierens is student aan de Fontys Hogeschool en loopt stage bij het VR lab. Hij heeft als opdracht de 3D planetariumapplicatie Celestia via VRjuggler aan de cave te koppelen.

 Brandweer Shanghai gaat virtueel oefenen met Delftse simulatietechnologie De brandweer van Shanghai gaat Nederlandse simulatietechnologie inzetten om de geoefendheid van
hulpverleningspersoneel te vergroten. Als onderdeel van de ontwikkeling van een nieuwe brandweerschool in de Chinese miljoenenstad zal de Delftse onderneming E-Semble een ‘multiplayer’ simulatieruimte inrichten en de brandweer voorzien van rampscenario’s in een 3D omgeving van de stad.
